Lessons from RuPaul

Over the last two weeks Chi Living has featured on Mel Mahmood's "The Spirit Level" podcast. The overall focus of our conversation was about spreading positivity. It can be very difficult at the moment to remain positive, or to see the bright (or even funny) side of life. My reflections about this came from an unexpected source this week whist watching an episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. For those of you who do not watch this programme (and by the way you are missing a treat!) The Queens were returning to the show after a lengthy period of isolation when filming was paused due to the spike in Covid-19 cases. What became really clear as the episode progressed was that some of the contestants had used this time wisely to improve their skillset in preparation for returning to the show, but others had very obviously not.

At some point, this whole surreal pandemic experience will be in the past, and we will be left to reflect on how it has affected us physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially. I hope that when that time comes I can say I have used the time wisely to prepare myself and my business for whatever the new reality looks like.
